The American Bison, also known as the American Buffalo or Buffalo, is one of the oldest known mammals in North America. It’s origins are prehistoric with an eye opening holistic role in nature.

Once roaming in massive herds across most of the continent, from Alaska to the Florida’s Gulf Coast, the existence of the Bison date back to 9000BC. Regenerative by nature, the Bison’s amazing qualities allowed it to both adapt and sustain it’s surrounding environment.

With a population in excess of 60 Million, in the 19th Century Bison nearly faced extinction from commercial hunting and slaughter in addition to the introduction of bovine diseases. The 19th Century proved to be the single century in over 10,000 years that would push the Bison into extinction.

By 1889 an estimated 541 Bison remained.

Today, thanks to a vibrant industry and the help of conservation minded ranchers, the American Bison population stands at roughly 500,000 and growing by the year.
